Newbie Tips

So you've just begun your journey on ROTJ and you wants some tips to stay out of trouble and help you through? Then you've come to the right place. (These are in no particular order)

1. Up until level 15 recall will get you out of any sticky situation, even during a fight, and you will be transferred to port. After level 15 always carry a probe to transfer you back to port. These can be bought 2s2wn from port.

2. There are 2 newbie quests which can provide you with decent starting gear. The land quest begins 1u from port anda the space is in the piloting guild which is n2w2s from port.

3. Although it's nice to adventure out and around and by all means do as soon as you can, if you're finding you're losing fights often spend some xp on increasing your proficiency (which is done by attacking the dummy's in the guild halls) with your chosen weapon and/or increasing your hitpoints or focus. You can do this at any Guildmaster by typing practice to see how much it will cost you and train (insert stat) to train that stat. ie train hitpoints will increase the amount of hitpoints you have.

4. There is a donations room 1sd from port. I'd suggest having a look in here every so often to see if anyone has donated something useful.

5. Purchase a comlink from Tar Lups asap. It's located 2sen from port and allows you to see auctions and what others are talking about. (You can't join in on the conversations until lvl 2 though)

6. Don't be afraid to enter other guildhalls to gain xp. You can earn enough xp doing this to level reasonably quickly, it's safe, you're close to medical bays to increase your regeneration time and if you do die your corpse is close. You may not earn alot of money doing this but you get enough to rent and keep your equipment.

7. If you find yourself needing help, maybe you can't get your corpse, maybe there's a piece of eq loaded you'd like to have but aren't string enough to get it, you can ask using the com channel. However, if you don't get an answer straight away don't spam the channel. More than likely someone will help you, they might just be busy so be patient.

8. When regenning and you have nothing to do, read the help files on the mud. They include a universe of information that you WILL need. This include the jerk clause, multiplaying and player-killing rules as you will need to know these.
