QotM WINNER

It is with much thought and consideration that we have decided to award Keenstein as the winner of this month’s Quest of the Month.

Below is an excerpt from his post:

“I would suggest having “Max Level” on equipment just like minimum. This would mean that some special stats load on equipment that disappear if worn by someone over level 30 or 40 or whatever. Maybe the stats could even disappear if picked up by a higher player.. or the equipment can’t be picked up by someone over level 45 at all.. it burns them. This would mean the new and lowbie is forced to make the kills themselves. You could put this equipment on the “named” Mobs in newbie and lowbie zones (Hoth, Kessil, Sumitra, Anchorhead, Jabba’s etc.) This would give me an insentive to go and try and explore / kill mobs in those zones.

The biggest problem I currently see is that the hardest mobs I am able to kill at level 25 to 45 or so never give me equipment anywhere close to being as good as stuff just sitting in donations that Higher players scrap so the insentive isn’t there.”

Considering the amount of players that we have who have played this game a lot and obviously have connections or know where exactly the good, easy to get eq is, I chose this post because it introduced a great concept, creating decent gear for players at lower levels. This eq doesn’t have to be fantastic but providing opportunities for exploration and rewarding those opportunities with payout commensorate with the amount of effort I felt would be a great new addition to this game.

I do sincerely appreciate, as all of Meru does, all of the effort you guys put into this quest in coming up with great ideas on ways to improve the game. Given the amount of feedback we received, we will be in discussion regarding several of these changes and let you guys know about them as they go in.

Thanks again everyone, and May the Force Be With You

It’s always nice to keep things fresh

After some discussion with my brother Taksun, I’m interested to see what some of you, the consumers, want from us. So I’ve made a post on the forum calling out to all of you to let us know what it is you want to see most. The better the feedback we get from you, the more fun we can make this game for you and others. While we want to keep the forum open to you, the playerbase, we ask that you not become demanding or impatient, and especially to not get hung up if we decide that your idea is not functional, valuable, or in some way invalid.

So, check it out, and let’s get some brainstorming going!

The 12 Days of ROTJ!

Have you been a good little ewok this year? I sure hope so because the 12 days of Christmas ROTJ have come and with them come 12 days of gifting and adventure!

We will be opening Santa’s pack of gifts in the late afternoon, so make sure you are around for the joy and festivities.

Official RotJ Newsletter – Sept ’09

Fall is fast approaching, and you know what that means. Cold weather, warm soup, and plenty more time to Mud! It also means Halloween is practically around the corner. For October, there will be a Player of the Month contest where you can create a costume for your character. The winner gets to wear his or her costume around. So check the forums and get to work!
Speaking of forums, probably one of the biggest changes is the website. A lot of work has been put into giving it better functionality. Thank you Oni and anyone else who has helped make these changes. Very cool!
There hasn’t been a large quantity of changes lately, but the changes made are big ones. Below is a breakdown of what happened. You can get more info on these changes in the Changes section of the forum on RotJmud.com.
Zones:
  • The Jedi Tower on Coruscant has had some mob tweaks, so be careful! (Tristen)
  • There’s a new newbie/lowbie space zone at jump 487. (Omicron)
Skills:
  • Scoundrel Level 100 now has a skill, Cheat. See help files for more info. (Raistlin)
Other Things:
  • Auction has been changed so that a minlevel will show up in the auction message. No more wasting credits to find out you can’t use it! (Raistlin)
  • Quest items are now considered personal items. This means a quest item purchased by one player can no longer be sold to other players. (Raistlin)
  • Added 2 new quest items for sale. A one use item that can be used to heal permanent wounds your character has suffered and a piece of equipment that can help those who are deathly afraid of subber death. (Raistlin)
Get your RotJ swag: http://www.cafepress.com/revengemud (I already have a mug and t-shirt!) **All monies collected will go to the support of the ROTJ mud and nothing else.

First Point A large number of the Forum accounts were transferred over SO, if you do a Forgot password request, You’ll be able to reset it, and continue as normal.

Second Point We managed to get *most* of the forum posts over as well, but a few were missed, so don’t be upset, I’ll try and get them brought over soon.

Third Point We will be adding more content and improving the styles, etc over time. So be patient, and if you find any bugs.. Let Oni know.

What’s New this Purge

The November 1st, 2007 full player purge is our first complete purge in many years and we’re taking the opportunity to reinvent several aspects of RotJ to hopefully create new discoveries and challenges for players as well as align ourselves more closely with the Star Wars Universe.  The following is list of game changes is by no means complete, but these are the major changes implemented this purge.
